Mind-Aid Mobile

The Mind-Aid Mobile unit is coming to the MacTier Library! The friendly & skilled Hub Team offers free drop-in activities and programs for youth. They offer social & recreational hang-outs, educational workshops, and indigenous cultural & ceremonial activities. Through the Hub, young people will be able to gain access to mental health & addiction care, primary health care, social & cultural supports, financial supports and so much more!

Bird Banding with Georgian Bay Land Trust
Honey Harbour: Thursday, August 6 at 8:00 am
Discover the fascinating world of local birds and explore how different species survive and thrive in the biosphere. Learn how birds communicate, identify unique adaptations for different habitats, and uncover the amazing features that help them fly, hunt and stay safe. Equipped with binoculars, we’ll head outdoors to spot and identify birds in their natural environment.

Botanical Sun Printing
MacTier: Saturday, August 15 at 10:30 am
Join us to discover the art of printing with the sun! During this workshop participants will use botanicals, a bit of chemistry, and lots of solar energy to create a unique piece of art to take home. No experience necessary. Materials are provided; however, you are welcome to bring small personal items to experiment with. This workshop is weather dependent.

The Art of Cheese & Charcuterie with At the Lake
Baxter Ward Community Centre: Thursday, August 20 at 11:30 am
Learn the art of cheese and charcuterie with Allison from At the Lake as she demonstrates proper cheese cutting etiquette, edible garnishes, how to customize your charcuterie and so much more! Let’s not forget the best part – sampling some of the tray once it is all complete.

The Friends of the MacTier Library present an Author Talk with R.H. Thomson
MacTier: Wednesday, August 26 at 6:30 pm
Author of By the Ghost Light: Wars, Memory and Families. For the First World War Centenary, he built The World Remembers, an international commemoration exhibit now installed at the Canadian War Museum and explorable online at theworldremembers.org
He is a Member of the Order of Canada and was awarded the Governor General’s Performing Arts Award for Lifetime Artistic Achievement. R.H. Thomson is also an actor and has appeared in film and theatre across Canada, as well as Matthew Cuthbert in Anne with an E. He is a firm believer of the power of local stories, and he encourages you to share stories about your family in MacTier and surrounding area.

If you rely on a private or other non-municipal water source, your water quality may change over time. Visit any of our three locations to pick up your free water testing bottle and ensure the safety of your home’s water.

Dog Tags

Need a dog tag? Stop in at any of our branch locations to obtain your Lifetime Dog Tags. A valid Rabies Vaccination record is required. Cost is $50.00 per license, cash only accepted.

Burn Permits
Available at all branches during regular hours of operation
Planning on burning? Get your open air burn permit today! Just stop into any of our three branches to fill out your application. Cost is $20.00, cash only accepted.

Parking Passes
Available at all branches during regular hours of operation
Get your free parking pass at any one of our three branches! Proof of residency must be provided.

Battery Recycling

When those well used batteries wear out just bring them into any one of our branch locations to recycle them. Accepting single-use batteries and rechargeable weighing 5 kgs or less each. No wet-cell, damaged or defective batteries accepted.
